Rex Allen Hale

Rex Allen Hale, 68, of Bainbridge, IN, passed away at home on Sunday, August 20, 2023.  He was born in Barnabus, West Virginia on September 13, 1954, and was a son of the late, Oscar and Edna (Varney) Hale.

Rex grew up in Omar, West Virginia and graduated from Logan High School in Logan, West Virginia with the class of 1974. In the summer of 1979 he traveled to New Winchester Indiana to visit his sister and was introduced to the love of his life.

He was a structural welder-fabricator on mining equipment with Central Hydraulics in Wilkinson, West Virginia for 8 years before meeting Barb, where he then moved to Bainbridge Indiana. Rex and Barb were married in the Fall of 1984 and continued to reside in Bainbridge along with their three sons. He was employed as a welder/fabricator with Altec Industries for 35 years before retiring in 2019 due to heart issues.  He enjoyed working on cars, woodworking/crafts. He loved to listen to 50’s & 60’s music and playing family card game “Shanghai”

Rex is survived by his loving wife of 38 + years, Barbara Hale of Bainbridge, 3 sons, Taylor (Lauren) Hale of Roachdale, Adam Hale of Bainbridge, and A1C Eric Hale, Scott AFB, Illinois; step-grandchildren, Ava and Julia; sisters, Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Woodward, of Greencastle, Kay (Wendel) Davis of Lander, Wyoming, Ruthie Burdett of Ladoga, and brother, Greg (Nancee) Hale of Boise, Idaho. Rex is predeceased by a brother, Jimmy Hale, and 2 sisters, Jerry Johnson and Lois Hale.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Helton and Harris Funeral Home, 102 S. Indiana St., Danville, IN 46122, burial will follow in Bainbridge Cemetery.  Friends are invited to gather for a reception at the Bainbridge Community Building at 3pm, 201 N. Grant St., Bainbridge, In 46105.
