Matthew David Simmerman, “Lil Simmy”, 26, of Danville, IN passed away unexpectedly, on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the gym, from cardiac arrest. He was born in Danville, IN on July 8, 1996, a son of Matt “Simmy” and Stephanie (Jordan) Simmerman, one of the best sons and brother a parent could ask for. He loved with all his heart. “God, Family, Country”
Matt grew up in Lizton, then graduated from Eastern High School, in Greentown, IN with the class of 2015. After graduation, he signed a letter of intent to play baseball with Southeastern Community College, in West Burlington, Iowa. He continued his baseball career at IU Kokomo where he received his bachelor’s degree. He loved baseball, hunting, and fishing, and his truck, “Mater.” He loved his boots, clothes, his shoe game, playing his X-Box occasionally, the St. Louis Cardinals, and unfortunately the Indianapolis Colts. He worked for Ryan Fire Protection Services as an apprentice, loved his work, and was a proud union member with 669 Sprinkler Fitters. He was the life of the party, could light up the room, was outgoing, had his mother’s bubbly personality, was caring, and giving, could listen and argue at the same time, and loved his friends like family.
In addition to his loving and heartbroken parents, Matt is survived by two brothers, Michael (Angel), and Douglass (Bridget); grandparents, Rick and Fran Simmerman, Tim Hall, and Steve Jordan; his uncles, Rick, Scott, Tony, and Kevin; aunts, Rachel, and Lorrie; nieces and nephews, Jaylen, Brayden, Avery, Isabelle, Silas, Dillon, Alyssa, and Danica; his Godfather, David Groce (Stephanie); and extended family members. He is predeceased by his grandmother, Janet Hall, and his “Gram’.
The family will receive friends at the Hendricks County Fair Grounds, Hendricks Power Expedition Hall, on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM, with a service beginning at 6 PM. Helton & Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences at www.heltonandharrisfuneralhomes.com.
