Karl Romel

April 15, 1955 — May 12, 2023

Danville

Karl Romel, 68, of Danville, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at I.U. Methodist, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Indianapolis on April 15, 1955, to the late, Bruce and Eva (Imler) Romel.  He was a graduate of Brownsburg High School, and later completed HVAC training at ITT Technical Institute.  He retired after 17 as Engineer Tech III, from Hendricks Regional Hospital.

He enjoyed fixing all things, ranging from HVAC, automotive repair, and everything in between.  He and Diane enjoyed camping at Turkey Run State Park, in fact they’d camped in all of the Indiana state parks, except for one.  He will be remembered for always having a kind word and smile, his calm demeanor, and saying that, “Everything will be all right”.  He was incredibly reliable and very loving. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Diane Romel, daughters, Anna of Florida, and Amber (Brent) Bost of Sunrise, FL.; step-sons, Brian Rugg of Brownsburg, and Brad (Tiffany) Rugg of Indianapolis; sister, Karen (Dwayne) Fontaine of Gresham, OR; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; niece, Amy (Mike) Hamilton, and his nephew, Chris Romel of Oregon; cousins, Sandy and John Rominger. Also missing Karl are his fur-babies, Gus-gus his pup, and Ozzie his kitty. In addition to his parents, Karl is predeceased by his brother, Chet Romel.

The family would like to say a special, “Thank You”, to the doctors with the Nephrology and Internal Medicine Group for their care over the past 35 years, specifically, Dr. Charles Carter, Sr., Dr. Conrad Deel, Dr. Nancy Baird, Dr. Jared Fialkow, and Dr. J. Whittenborn.

A Celebration of Karl’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Kidney Foundation.  A link has been provided below.
