Wilma Stidam, 79, of Avon, Ind. passed away at home, peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.  She was born in Logan, West Virginia to the late Bert and Aleen (White) Nesbitt.

Wilma grew up in Morehead, KY, graduating with the class of 1962.  She married her best friend and high-school sweetheart, Carl Stidam on December 15, 1963.  Together they worked hard and raised a family. Wilma attended cosmetology school and worked as a beautician for many years before deciding to clean homes and offices for friends, neighbors and many referrals.

She enjoyed going garage sale-ing, scrapbooking and taking a deep-dive into the genealogy of both the Nesbitt and Stidam lineages.

Wilma is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Carl Stidam; daughter, Ileana (Keith) Ross of Danville; son, Shannon (Cheryl) Stidam of Lizton; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Stidam, Tyler (Chelsea) Ross, Toby (Michayla) Ross, Savannah Stidam, Leah Morton and Sarah Morton; 8 great-grandchildren, Hadley, Lucy, Wrenley and Leeland Ross, Wyatt and Willow Stidam, Ryker Demoret and Wrenley Wimsatt; brother, Gary (Barb) Nesbitt; sister, Shirley (Donald) Charles; nephews, Michael Nesbitt and Trevor Charles; niece, Kathy Kanoles.  In addition to her parents, Wilma is predeceased by her infant brother, James Nesbitt.

In accordance with Wilma’s wishes, a celebration of life will take place with her immediate family. Memorial donations may be made in Wilma’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.Helton & Harris Funeral Homes entrusted with arrangements.  Online condolences may be offered at www.heltonandharrisfuneralhomes.com.
