Tracy McGhee, age 57, of North Salem, Indiana, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Tracy was born on July 3, 1967, in Danville, Indiana, to his parents, Joe and Linda (Smith) McGhee, who have since preceded him in death.
Tracy was a devoted husband to Jennifer Ann-Marie Schissel McGhee, whom he married on April 7, 2017. Their marriage was a testament to faith, devotion, and mutual support and he was never shy about expressing his love for “my Jennifer” and telling everyone how beautiful she is.
He was an active member of Clayton Christian Church, where his faith was the guiding light of his life. Tracy found great fulfillment in worship, fellowship, and service, and was always ready to share the glory and love of the Lord.
Tracy carried himself with kindness, humility, and a servant’s heart, always willing to lend a hand or share a word of encouragement. It was vital to him to share God’s love and forgiveness by being an “arm of Christ,” whether publicly praying with someone he felt needed it, or making sure a friend had accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior before they passed. Tracy dedicated 35 years to UPS, retiring in 2024. Throughout his career, he was respected by his coworkers and customers alike for his integrity and hard work. Tracy also had a connection with Wyeth Farms, which he had worked on and been involved with since he was 12 years old. Never one to sit idle, he started Mule Barn Farm Mulch and Hay sales and became a beloved member of the community, willing to volunteer his help for those in need, and eventually “taking the reins” for the horse pull during North Salem Old Fashion Days.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer, children, Connor (Sarah) McGhee and Shelby McGhee, grandson, Calum Joe McGhee, sister, Carrie McGhee, and aunt, Hildred McGhee. Tracy was also godfather to Victoria (Wyeth) Dirlam and Richie Wyeth. Tracy McGhee was a shining example of a life well-lived in devotion to God, family, and community. He will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord, where there is no more pain, only eternal peace and joy.
The family will receive friends at the Clayton Christian Church on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 4-8 pm. A funeral will be held Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 am with an hour visitation prior. Burial will follow in Dugger Cemetery at 3pm. Tracy will be buried in Dugger, Indiana on land his Grandpa McGhee donated to the town. This is the site of the old family farm overlooking the house in which his father, Joe McGhee was raised. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Hanging Rock Christian Camp in Tracy’ memory. Online condolences may be offered at www.heltonandharrisfuneralhomes.com.
