Tom Helton, 78, of Bainbridge, formerly of Danville, passed away in the
   
   early hours of Monday, March 20, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his
   
   family.
  
   Thomas Kent Helton was born in Indianapolis, a son of the late Judge
   
   Vincin and Martha (Swope) Helton. He graduated from Danville High
   
   School with the class of 1962. After graduation, Tom served his country
   
   in the United States Army. On October 2, 1965, he married Angie
   
   (Newhart), his best friend and sweetheart since 7th grade, she
   
   predeceased him, on July 24, 2022.
  
   Tom and Angie worked side by side, for 42 years as the owners of
   
   Home Lumber Company in Danville. Tom enjoyed cooking, working
   
   outside, mowing, watching sports, and spending time with family. He
   
   was a member of Brick Chapel United Methodist Church.
  
   Survivors include his son, Brad Helton of Bainbridge, daughter, Cara
   
   (Tony) Peterson of Danville, brother, Don (Jan) Helton of Danville. Also
   
   surviving are 4 granddaughters, nieces, nephews, and extended family
   
   members. In addition to his wife, Angie, he was predeceased by an
   
   infant daughter, Anita Lynn Helton.
  
   The family will receive friends at Helton & Harris Funeral Home,
   
   Danville, on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., with a
   
   memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow in
   
   Danville South Cemetery.
  
   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s name
   
   to either the Putnam County Animal Care Control, 4700 East State Road
   
   240, Greencastle, In 46135, or to Life’s Journey Hospice, 10241 East
   
   County Road 100 N, Indianapolis, IN 46234.
