T.D. "Tom" Prince, 95, of Clayton, passed away on the morning of July 14, 2022. VISITATION and FUNERAL on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 12:00 pm until the time of service, beginning at 2:00 pm, at the HAZELWOOD CHRISTIAN CHURCH, located at 9947 S. County Rd. 0, Clayton, IN 46118. Burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery. Flowers may be sent directly to the church.
Tom was born in Tullahoma, TN to the late Grady and Nanny Jo (Roman) Prince. He married Patricia F. Matthias in 1956, she preceded him in death November 23, 2007. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army near the end of WWII. Following the war, he became a machinist with Allison Transmission for General Motors for 34 1/2 years, retiring in 1999. He and Pat opened the first custom slaughterhouse in Indiana, Prince's Custom Slaughterhouse. Specializing in goat meat, Tom was often better known as the "Goat Man". Tom loved rabbit hunting and running his beagles. He was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Diana (Michael) Hill of Hazelwood, IN, Marilyn (Douglas) Doty of Plainfield, IN; 4 grandchildren, Derek (Erin) Doty of Plainfield, IN, Tiffany (Adam) Smith of Bargersville, IN, Travis (Andrea) Garver of Clayton, IN, Dustin (Mallory) Doty of Bargersville, IN; 8 great grandchildren, Tucker and Grady Smith, Braxton Garver, Owen and Hanna Doty, Sawyer, Becket and Lachlan Doty; brother, Floyd (Sue) Prince of Tenn. Tom is preceded in death by his sisters, Nellie (Slim) Fowler, Geneva (Johny) Kennedy, Bobbie (Billy) Ray, Robbie (Leon) Frame, and his brother, Dudley Prince.
