Suzanne Vance, 71, of Plainfield, passed away with her family by her side on the morning of Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She was born in Washington, Pennsylvania on March 12, 1954, the daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Ann (Cowell) Bartolovich.
Suzanne’s family moved to Plainfield after her father accepted a job at the Indiana Boys School. M.L. and Sue were high school sweethearts, and this February 11th would have marked 54 years of friendship, laughter, and love.
A true country-gal at heart, Suzanne loved fishing, camping and spending time outdoors. She was a proud member of Indiana’s only all-women’s bass fishing club, Indiana Bass’N Gals. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 15 years of service as a mail carrier. Above all, being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was her most cherished role.
Sue was a shining light in the lives of those who had the privilege to know her. Her passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many others whose lives she touched. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but the way she lived with warmth, humor, strength and unwavering love.
Suzanne is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, M.L. Vance; her sons, David (Brandie) Vance and Andy (Jennifer) Vance; her grandchildren, Kiara Vance, Zachary Vance, Sarah Barragan, Taylor Sieferman, Emma Schrader and Rylee Vance; and her great-grandchildren, Matteo Barragan, Hadlee Vance, Emiliano Barragan and Ozzy Barragan. She is also survived by her sister, Debbie Merritt, her brothers, John (Dawn) Bartolovich and Mark (Cassie) Bartolovich.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In accordance with her wishes, a celebration of her life will be shared at a later date.
