Sue C. Wood

Sue Wood, 88, of Avon, Indiana passed away on August 12, 1988. Sue was born October 26, 1937 and died August 12, 2026. She graduated salutatorian from Danville High School in 1955. She was employed as a legal secretary for Kendall, Stevenson, and Lowery of Danville before working as a paralegal for the U.S. Attorney, Southern District of Indiana, for twenty years.

She was married to Forest Wood in 1960 and celebrated their fortieth anniversary before his death. Her commitment to her family was deeply felt by their sons, Brad and Darren. Her devotion to her nephew and niece, Kevin Wood and Jeanie Wood, was greatly appreciated.

Sue’s faith in Christ was nurtured as a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. As a servant of Christ, she assisted others through bereavement support, teaching Bible studies, and many acts of kindness and generosity. She expressed her civic duty through her support for the Democratic Party and serving as an election poll worker.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Walter and Lola Brown, parents Lloyd and Marion Covey, husband Forest Wood, sister Madge Wood, and brother-in-law Marvin Wood. She is survived by her sons Brad Wood and Rev. Darren Cushman Wood (Ginny), and her grandchildren Dr. Emma Cushmanwood Ceruti (Paul), Joseph Cushman-Wood, and Abby Cushman-Wood, and her great granddaughter Nora Cushman-Wood Ceruti.

The family will receive friends at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, Danville, on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm.
