Sona Brown

Sona Brown, 80, of Brownsburg, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025. She was born in Indianapolis on April 8, 1944, a daughter of the late, George Everett and Lois Lee (Green) Brown. In addition to her parents, Sona is preceded in death by her sister, Sharen Singleton and brother, William Brown, brothers-in-law, Greg Stippich, Frank Bunn and Lynn Montgomery, three nieces, Diana Adler, Claire McKibbins, Kris Schepers and one nephew, Peter Stippich. 

Sona graduated from George Washington High School in Indianapolis in 1960. She found her way into the banking industry, first with INB and eventually retired from Chase Bank in Indianapolis where she enjoyed working in card services and helping her customers. Sona was a wonderful sister and aunt, with strong family ties to immediate and extended family members, making the holidays important days to get together with everyone. After she retired, Sona enjoyed traveling, quiet time reading, watching old movies and TV shows like Perry Mason. She also enjoyed crocheting and embroidery work and was very adept at both making afghans, pillow cases and table cloths.

Sona is survived by 5 siblings and their families, Marshia Stippich, Judy Montgomery, Ronald Brown, Donna Bunn and Tracie (Charles) Thinnes. Also missing Sona are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 10-11am, with a Catholic Wake beginning at 11am on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the Helton & Harris Funeral Home, Danville. A private burial of her cremated remains will take place at a later date in Roachdale Cemetery.
