Robert Murrain

Robert (Bob) E. Murrain, 86, of Danville, IN, passed away, surrounded by his family on Friday, April 11, 2025. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 6, 1939, a son of the late Leslie and Alberta (Morgott) Murrain. In addition to his parents, Robert is predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen, his faithful dog Emmy and brother Donald Murrain.

Robert grew up in Danville, Indiana and graduated from Clayton High School with the class of 1957. Later, a mutual friend introduced him to the woman whom he married on September 15, 1962 and spent the next 62 years with, Helen Stevenson. Together they had 3 beautiful children. Robert worked at General Motors for 30 years, retiring around the age of 54, he then worked part time at Kroger for a short time. He loved tinkering on cars and would always say “I can fix that” when someone was talking about a mechanical issue. Memories were made with his children, grandchildren, working out in the garage, and he enjoyed planting a vegetable garden.

Robert is survived by sons, John (Jennifer) Murrain, Jeff (Daina) Murrain, and daughter, Kelly Horner, all of Danville; 4 grandchildren, Mickey (Garrett) Brown, Cody (Alexus) Murrain, Blake (Atlanta) Murrain, and Kaleigh (Alex) Stevens; 5 great-grandchildren, Xander, Tobias, Allison, Isabella and Roman.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 4712 Pennsylvania St., CLAYTON, Indiana 46118. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery.
