Pam Washburn

Pam Washburn, 74, of Danville, Indiana, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

Pam was born on October 30, 1951, in Martinsville, Indiana, to the late William and Elizabeth (Hammans) Cordes. She grew up in Martinsville, attended finishing school, and graduated with the Class of 1969. Her finishing-school experience complemented her naturally prim and proper way.

Pam worked for many years as a data analyst for Covance, now Labcorp. She was a planner by nature, always thinking ahead and making sure the people she loved were taken care of. Whether helping with an education, buying a house, or simply calling the moving truck when it was needed, Pam was always there for her family.

Pam was quiet, sweet and easygoing, but she knew when to speak her mind. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and could surprise everyone with a funny comment that seemed to come out of nowhere.

She loved being outdoors, mowing the grass, tending to her plants and flowers, and watching the birds, especially hummingbirds. She loved the beach and particularly enjoyed time spent at Fort Myers Beach. Pam enjoyed reading magazines, keeping up with pop culture and recipes, listening to music—especially The Beatles—and spending time with her family.

Some of her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren. She loved shopping with them, going out to eat, and simply being together. Pam loved to spoil her family and was always looking for ways to do something special for those she loved. She was even known to start her Christmas shopping well ahead of time. Pam also enjoyed fresh blueberries with her yogurt and made sure to keep an online account with Beasley’s Orchard so she could order them.

Pam and her devoted husband, Brad, enjoyed traveling to NASCAR races together. Pam cheered for Bobby Labonte, while Brad was a Jeff Gordon fan, making the races all the more fun.

Above all, Pam loved her family deeply. They will remember her for her generosity, humor, thoughtfulness, and the countless ways she showed her love—whether helping when someone needed it, planning ahead for everyone, or simply spoiling the people she loved.

Pam is survived by her husband, Bradley Washburn; daughters, Carmen (Donnie) Bennett and Rachel (James) Bonnett; grandchildren, Tyler (Chelsie) McClure, Clarissa McClure, and Stormy (Kevin) Ray; mother-in-law, Jeannie Hunt; brothers-in-law, John Pierson and Bryan (Michelle) Washburn; sister-in-law, Theresa Cordes; niece, Dashanna Rothhaas; and nephews, Jason and Matt Washburn and Michael Pierson.

In addition to her parents, Pam was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Cordes, and sister-in-law, Brenda Pierson.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life begins at 1:00 p.m. at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 102 S. Indiana St., Danville, IN 46122.
