Mona Lisa Coleman, 74, of Danville, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Friday, December 27, 2024. She was born on November 28, 1950, in Linton, Indiana, to the late Theodore “Ted” and Janice (Caskey) Preecs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Coleman.
Mona grew up in Danville and graduated from Danville High School with the Class of 1969. She married Gerald (Jerry) Coleman, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and joy. Mona cherished her roles as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home, where family and friends always felt embraced.
Mona had a vibrant personality and a passion for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed water aerobics with her dear friend Wanda and spent countless hours painting at the senior center, nurturing her artistic side. A true nature lover, Mona took pride in her garden and found immense joy in feeding the hummingbirds that visited her yard. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren, twins Grant and Adison. She delighted in creating personalized scrapbooks for each of them, capturing memories they will treasure forever. Every spring, Mona eagerly anticipated her trip to the beach with her son and daughter-in-law, relishing the sunshine and creating special family memories. Her warmth, kindness, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mona is survived by her sons, Jeff (Lisa) Coleman of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Jason (Karla) Coleman of Zionsville, IN; her cherished grandchildren, Grant and Adison Coleman; and her brother, Michael (Sue) Preecs of Danville. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
