Michael F. Rollins, 83, of Danville, IN passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Friday, April 26, 2024. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 20, 1941, and was the son of the late Gilbert and Margaret (Wyre) Rollins.
He grew-up in Beech Grove and was a 1959 graduate of Cathedral High School, and a 1962 graduate of Valparaiso Technical Institute’s Electronic School. On April 30, 1963 Mike married his best friend, Linda (Uhls) Rollins. He retired from Cinergy (now Duke Energy) in Plainfield in 1996 after 30 years of service. Mike was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Mike was an active Ham radio operator for many years and volunteered his time with state and local emergency management agencies. Mike loved boating, dogs, airplanes, helicopters, electronics, playing the guitar, and telling jokes. He was a friend to all and would help them any way he could.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Linda Rollins; two children, Christopher J. Rollins of Lorton, Virginia and David (Shawn) M. Rollins of Martinsville, IN; two grandchildren, Jackson W. Hooker of Charlotte, North Carolina and Camille M. Rollins of Greenwood, IN; sisters, Sandra Riggs of Indianapolis and Deborah Whitinger of Nashville, TN, and brother William Rollins of Whiteland, IN. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph P. Rollins and sister, Cathy Bailey.
Services will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville on Thursday, May 2nd. Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Father Michael Fritsch will be officiating.
