Michael Don Biehl, Sr., 80, of Danville, IN left this earth to meet Jesus Sunday, October 19, 2025. He was born in New Castle, Indiana September 3, 1945, one of eight children to the late Walter H. and Evelyn L. (Newkirk) Biehl. In addition to his parents, Don is predeceased by two brothers, Dwayne and Jerry Biehl and a sister-in-law Judy (Gray) Biehl.
Don was born in New Castle, Indiana, graduated from Mooreland High School with the class of 1963. He met his best friend and love of his life, Shirley (Huston) Biehl, they were married on November 22, 1978. They raised their family in rural Henry County, south of Lewisville, calling it home for over 30 years. He worked for Chrysler Corporation in New Castle and became a journeyman toolmaker, retiring after 39 years. He received an associates degree from Ivy Tech. Being unable to sit idle for long, Don worked for Ace Hardware and Herdrich Petroleum Corporation in New Castle briefly before settling in with Scott Tool Company where he thoroughly enjoyed working. He and Shirley were active members of the Raleigh and Center Christian Churches. Don was a devoted husband, father and grandpa who traveled many miles always supporting his children and grandchildren in their sporting and musical endeavors. Don was a gentle soul who enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was always willing to help others. He had been a runner and especially enjoyed hiking in the Smokies with family and friends. Don and Shirley traveled to numerous areas visiting family as well as seeking out new adventures during their time together.
Don and Shirley moved to Danville in 2018 and became active members of Northview Christian Church. Don enjoyed volunteering with Active Grace Food Pantry in Camby and being a part of the Northview Christian Church Senior Ministry. He especially enjoyed “Game Night” and his Life Group at Northview Christian Church where he met some of his best friends. As things slowed down, Don enjoyed working sudoku puzzles and staying in touch with family by making numerous phone calls.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Shirley Biehl; children, Michael Don Biehl, Jr. (Cindy) of Knightstown, IN, Christopher Biehl of New Castle, IN, Cyndi Love of Fishers, IN, Scott Haley of Salt Lake City, UT and Jason Haley (Susan) of South Hamilton, MA; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; brother, Richard James Biehl (Judy); sisters, Jolena Biehl, Marilyn Biehl, Nancy Adkins, Ruth Aaron and Nina Layton (Chris). Also missing Don are nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 102 S. Indiana St. Danville. A second calling and service will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 12p until the time of service at 1pm at the Raleigh Christian Church, 4019 E. 900 N. Rushville, IN 46173. He will be laid to rest in the Zion Cemetery. In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to the Active Grace Food Pantry and Northview Christian Church Seniors Ministry.
