Marie Rutledge Higgins

96 of Danville, passed away November 18, 2017 at Avon Health Care. Services will be held at 10 am. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 at DANVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Visitation will be 3-7 pm Tues., Nov. 21, 2017 at WEAVER & RANDOLPH FUNERAL HOME DANVILLE. Burial will take place in K. of P. Cemetery in Lizton, In.

Marie was born December 26, 1920 in Pittsboro, Indiana, a daughter of Horace and Mary (Keeney) Rutledge. She was a 1938 graduate of Danville High School. Marie married Harvey Higgins Jr. in 1942. He preceded her in death in 2000. Marie had been a resident of Danville most all of her life. Marie was a housewife and also very active in her community. She truly was a servant; an active member of the Danville United Methodist Church, volunteering at the Danville Public Library, and as a member of Tri Kappa Sorority. Marie was a friend to all. She loved to read and was a world traveler. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Survivors include her children, John (Deborah) Higgins of Coatesville, Patricia Cherry of Crown Point, IN., 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a brother, Wayne Rutledge of Danville.
