Linda Stover

Linda Jo (Young) Stover, 81, of Clayton passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. She was born in Sturgis, Michigan, the daughter of the late John and Irma (Garrett) Young. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Rex Stover, and sister, Rosemary Carter. 

Linda grew up in Sturgis, MI, attending Sturgis High School. She attended Cottey College on scholarship for a bit in Nevada, Missouri until she eloped. She finished her Bachelor's in Education at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. She went on to receive her Master's in Education from Depauw University. She also attended Butler University for her licensing in special education. She taught for over 40 years from kindergarten all the way to high school students. She eloped to the love of her life, Rex Stover. They were married for 54 years. She was a member of the Clayton Presbyterian church, she enjoyed singing in the choir, crafts (especially with children), reading, and most of all her grandchildren.

 Linda is survived by her children, Shawn Stover of Clayton, Dora (Kenny) Fields of Clayton; grandchildren, Kendra Thrasher, Kasey Thrasher, and Austyn Fields; bonus (step) grandchildren, Zane Fields and Jazzlynn Fields; bonus (step) great-grandchild, Aiden Fields. 

 The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Saturday, January 18, 2024 at the Clayton Presbyterian Church, 4887 Pennsylvania St., Clayton, IN 46118. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am., with lunch to follow.
