James (Jim) Ostrom, 67, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly, with family by his side, on Monday, June 22, following a cardiac event.
Jim was born on December 5, 1958, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Harold and Jane (King) Ostrom. He was a 1977 graduate and Athletic Hall of Fame recipient of Princeville High School and a 1981 graduate of Greenville University where he played baseball and studied Education along with History and Political Science.
He lived in Bloomington, Illinois and West Lafayette, Indiana where he worked in sales while raising his two daughters with his wife of nearly 40 years. He was a devoted sports dad and enjoyed family vacations, golfing, swimming, reading the Bible, and spending time with family, especially his precious grandchildren. Jim’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Ostrom; daughters: Erika (Jonathan) Wolfschlag and Kayla (Joshua) Enderle; grandchildren: Alivia and Lucas Wolfschlag, and Ruth and John Enderle; his sisters, Rebecca (David) Rosser and Ellen Howell; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bill Howell.
Visitation is Thursday, July 2, from 4:00-6:00 pm, at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 102 S Indiana St, Danville, Indiana.
A private service will be held where family will gather for prayer, remembrance, and burial. Arrangements are entrusted to Helton & Harris Funeral Home.
