Ivan Costin

Mr. Ivan J Costin, 89, of Danville, IN died Friday, February 27 at IU Health Palliative Care - Indianapolis of an intracranial hemorrhage around 2:30 pm. He was surrounded by friends and family.

Born on August 21, 1936 in Stilesville to parents Ova and Clara (Starr) Costin, Ivan attended school there. He graduated from Stilesville High School before serving in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked at Mitchell and Scott Machine Shop, where he met his beloved late wife, Dorothy. They were married for 50 years. Ivan began a career with Citizens Energy Group as an appliance installer. He worked there until his retirement from the work force.

Ivan lived most of his life on Sherwood Drive before moving to Woodland Terrace by New Perspective senior living facility. He was well loved there among residents and staff alike. Ivan was a member of Danville Christian Church, serving as a past Deacon. Ivan loved the Chicago Cubs and the Indiana Hoosiers. He also enjoyed the company of animals and a good cup of coffee, especially if it came with a dessert.

Calling hours will be Thursday, March 5 from 4 to 7 pm at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 102 S. Indiana St., Danville, IN 46122.  Services will be held Friday, March 6 at Danville Christian Church, 180 W. Main St., Danville, IN 46122, beginning at 11 am with a visitation one hour prior.  Ivan will be laid to rest next to his beloved in Stilesville Cemetery.  

Ivan is survived by three beautiful daughters Donna (Garry) Edwards, Sherri Costin, Karla (Ken) Rabold, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several grand pets. He is preceded in death by his two brothers Jack Edwin and Myron and his sister Marilyn.
