George William Turner, Plainfield, passed away the morning of January 9, 2025. He was 91. He was from Atherton, Missouri, and was a son of the late John and Ideal {Lentz} Turner. He was one of ten children.
George was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. After serving his time he moved to Independence, Missouri and worked for TWA as a mechanic in Kansas. He met Julia Popplewell and they were married.
Later he moved to Indianapolis, IN and became a welder for Bryant Manufacturing later known as United Technologies as a parts locator. He had 3 loving children. After retirement he worked for Andy Mohr Car Dealership, picking up and delivering cars.
He greatly enjoyed helping his son Ralph every year working in the straw and hay fields, putting up thousands of bales, along with doing other jobs where he was needed. He was eager to help all three of his children whenever needed.
George is survived by his loving family, his wife Julia, Daughter Rebecca {Ted} Vance, of Speedway, Son George W. Turner Jr. of Tampa Bay, FL, Son Ralph {Mary} Turner of Stilesville. Grandchildren Valerie, Emily, Dylan, Nash, Nicole, Stephanie, Lance, Claire, Aubrey and Alex. 11 Great Grandchildren,and many nieces and nephews. Surviving siblings are Buford, Louise, Ada, Elsie, Charles and Elizabeth all of Missouri.
A service will take place later this spring.
