San Tan Valley, AZ

David Cecil Rader, 80, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, passed peacefully in the arms of the

Lord on August 31, 2025. He was born on October 8,1944 in Brazil, Indiana to Cecil and

Mary (Cockerham) Rader. Dave spent most of his life in Danville, Indiana. On February

14,1965 Dave married his lifetime soul mate, Vickie Timberman, and was married 60

loving years. Together they raised and mentored three children Jon, Jeffrey and Jana.

As a young man, Dave enjoyed playing baseball and later coaching his sons in little

league baseball. Dave was an IHSAA official for baseball, basketball and volleyball and

loved watching the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Notre Dame football with

his sons. He also treasured the memories made each Sunday after church going to the

lake to boat and water ski with his family. Upon retirement Dave and Vickie moved to

Arizona to enjoy the beautiful weather, but more importantly family. Dave loved to

spend time with his great-grandchildren Brooks and Gwendolyn and could most often

be seen watching Brooks play baseball and was his biggest fan! Dave was the

consummate family man who led his family by example.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and one brother (Tony) and one sister

(Brenda).

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vickie Timberman Rader, daughter Jana

Zimmerman and sons Jon Rader (Sue) and Jeffrey Rader (Amie); grandchildren Bryce

Burgess (Angie), Jordan Rader, Kyle Rader, Logan Rader, Kassidy Rader and Clare

Rader; great-grandchildren Brooks and Gwendolyn Burgess. He is also survived by two

sisters Nancy Rader and Diane Weaver.

We love and miss him dearly and understand he was taken home with his Lord and

Savior Jesus Christ for his reward in Heaven. Although 80 years was not enough time

for us, we know we will rejoice at our reunion with him in Heaven one day.

Arrangements are being made by Helton and Harris Funeral Home, Danville, and there

will be private memorial service for family.
