Daina Murrain

Jul 27, 1965 — Sep 16, 2026

Daina Murrain, 61, of Danville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Daina was born July 27, 1965, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Danny and Darla (Delph) Cliver. The oldest of three girls, Daina grew up alongside her sisters, Danene and Darcie. Some of her fond memories included spending time on her dad’s farm in Pleasantville, where she loved to fish.

Daina devoted 43 years of her life to working with individuals with developmental needs, serving as a developmental skills technician with Damar Healthcare and Adult Education. Her long career reflected one of the qualities that defined her throughout her life—her desire to care for and give to others.

Daina met the love of her life, Jeff Murrain, at Kroger where he worked alongside her mother. Their meeting began a life together that would span decades. Daina and Jeff were married for 37 years and raised three children: Cody, Blake and Kaleigh.

Family was at the center of Daina’s life, and becoming a grandmother brought her tremendous joy. Some of her happiest moments were also the simplest—lying down with her grandchildren and watching television together. She had a remarkable memory for birthdays and holidays and always seemed to have something ready for the people she loved. Daina was, quite simply, a giver.

She enjoyed garage sales and DIY projects and wasn’t afraid to build something herself, including benches. She loved tending to her flowers and growing tomatoes, swimming, relaxing in the hot tub, and spending time with dogs. She was also known for keeping an exceptionally clean home and liked everything to be just so.

When it was time to relax, Daina enjoyed reading, especially Harry Potter and Stephen King, and watching Law & Order and other crime shows. She was a fan of horror movies, with The Evil Dead among her favorites. She loved the color purple, had a fondness for plaid, and found happiness in the familiar comforts of home and family.

Daina will be remembered for the many ways she showed her love—not only through words, but through everything she did for those around her. Whether remembering a special occasion, finding the perfect gift, making something with her own hands, or simply spending time beside the people she loved, Daina gave generously of herself. Her thoughtfulness, devotion and love for her family will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, Jeff Murrain; their three children, Cody (Alexus) Murrain, Blake (Lana) Murrain and Kaleigh (Alex) Stevens; her grandchildren, Tobias, Allison, Isabella, Xander and Roman; her father, Danny Cliver, and her sisters, Danene (Darryl) Clements and Darcie (Michael) Brickens.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Darla (Delph) Cliver.

Daina’s family will carry forward countless memories of a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose greatest joy was found in loving and caring for the people around her.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 102 S. Indiana St., Danville, IN 46122.  A funeral will be held the following day at 11:00 am with a 1 hour visitation prior.  She will be laid to rest in Clayton Cemetery.
