Cathy Earles

September 12, 1955 — April 16, 2026

Greencastle

Cathy E. Earles, 70, of Greencastle, IN, passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Majestic of Avon. She was born September 12, 1955, in Salem, IN, a daughter of the late Lewis and Wilma (Gilstrap) Collier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Collier.

Cathy was the youngest of five and grew up in Salem. A self-described tomboy, she loved playing with her brothers and she was a devoted stay-at-home mom to her two boys. Cathy loved old country music — Elvis, George Jones, Conway Twitty — and was a fan of Lucille Ball. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, and family music gatherings, where she played guitar and drums. Known for her red-headed temper and stubborn streak like her mother, Cathy’s warm, musical spirit was a cherished part of family life.

She is survived by her two sons and their families: Jonathan Gray of Brownsburg, IN and Joshua Gray of Clermont, IN; three grandchildren, Parker (Brooke) Rappuhn, Ruby Gray and Grace Gray; three great-grandchildren; sister Linda Collier of Greencastle, IN; brothers Charles (Debra) Collier of Bainbridge, IN and Jerry Collier of Roachdale, IN; and her niece Tina Wallace of Indianapolis and several other nieces and nephews.

The family is hosting a celebration of Cathy's life on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 5:00 pm until the time of service at 6:30 pm at the Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 102 S. Indiana St., Danville, IN 46122.  All are invited to visit and share memories of Cathy.
