He was born in Indianapolis, Ind. on January 23, 1934, and was son of the late Carlos Everett and Ethel Mae (Lane) Dodson. Don grew up in Danville, Ind. and graduated from Danville High School Class of 1952 Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Upon his return, he would marry the pretty little redhead, he’d teased all those years on the school bus, Carol (Stephenson) Dodson. Together they raised 10 children. He owned his own business that had him traveling a lot but despite that Don participated in youth sports both sponsoring and coaching Little League Baseball teams in the community. As his children grew and moved away he continued to travel only this time to follow and support his grandchildren and great grandchildren in their various activities. He served faithfully in many leadership roles in his church setting an example to others. His door was always open to those who needed advice, help with a project or sometimes a place to stay.
